Jose Marcos Vega, DVM

Owner of Centro Medico Veterinario, Chief Clinician

J. Marcos Vega is founder and owner of Centro Medico Veterinario de Guaynabo; now celebrating 9 years of excellence in small animal healthcare. Dr. Vega is a 1994 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He started his Veterinary Career working as a Captain in the United States Army Veterinary Corps.  He was Chief Veterinary Officer at Keesler Air Force Base (1994-1996) and Chief Veterinary Officer at Ft. Buchanan and Roosevelt Roads Naval Air Station (1996-2000).  He honorably separated from the US ARMY in the year 2000 because of his passion to practice veterinary medicine, his desire to practice in the Island of Puerto Rico and to be close to his family.

Before founding Centro Medico Veterinario, Dr. Vega founded and still co-owns Veterinaria 24/7, a 24 hour Emergency Clinic in the San Juan area.  In the year 2000, he founded Clinica Veterinaria Alejandrino (CVA).  CVA was eventually sold in the year 2007.

Dr. Vega is an experienced practitioner that has gained a broad range of expertise through his 22 years of experience.  Among his areas of interest include Dermatology, Dentistry, Internal Medicine, Soft tissue surgery and Client Communication and Education.  He is a member of the American Society of Veterinary Dermatology, Veterinary Dental Forum, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association and “Colegio de Medicos Veterinarios de Puerto Rico”.

Dr. Vega is passionate about Veterinary Medicine and continuously strives to practice the most advance veterinary medicine with a gentle touch.  He continuously seeks gaining expertise by attending numerous conferences in anesthesia, dermatology, dentistry, ophthalmology and internal medicine.  He is a member of the Veterinary Information Network (VIN) and self proclaim VIN “nerd”.  He is passionate about the human animal bond and is committed to improve and maintain the health of his patients.

Dr. Vega resides in Guaynabo with his lovely wife Gloria his daughters Paola and Daniela, and two dogs; a Bishon “Roxie” and a Golden-Labrador “Sol” (his training partner).

Dr. Vega is a triathlete.  When not at the Clinic you are likely to find Dr Vega riding his bike, swimming in the ocean with “Sol” or running in the San Juan or Guaynabo area.

Roberto Vega, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Roberto Vega went to the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, where he majored in Biology. Dr. R. Vega attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in 2002 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, he then completed his clinical year of veterinary school at Louisiana State University.

After completing his education Dr. R.Vega returned to his home in Puerto Rico where he worked relief work in several Veterinary Hospital around the island during the day and at night worked at a emergency hospital in San Juan, Veterinaria 24/7. All this experience drove him to acquire a veterinary clinic, Veterinaria Alejandrino in Guaynabo where he practiced small animals medicine successfully. In 2015 a new opportunity arise to join his brother and mentor, Dr. J. Marcos Vega at Centro Medico Veterinario de Guaynabo to work as a primary doctor and serve as a educator and mentor for students practicing veterinary technology. Dr. R. Vega has 16 years of veterinary clinical and surgical experience and loves to get involved in difficult medicine and surgical cases.

In his free time Dr. R.Vega enjoys kite surfing, paddle boarding, fishing, snorkeling and sailing as well a mountain biking. He also loves music and is a troubadour at heart.

Soleyl Gonzalez, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Gonzalez has always had an innate passion to help animals and this is what primarily drove her into becoming a small animal doctor. The early stages of her career include working as a volunteer in different shelters during summer breaks and her first job as a teenager was cleaning dog runs and veterinary hospital tables. Dr. Gonzalez attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, where she majored in Animal Science. Upon graduation Dr. Gonzalez applied to veterinary school and in the meantime began to work as a veterinary technician at a small animal practice in the area.

Dr.Gonzalez eventually attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), an accredited school in the Caribbean. She had the opportunity to live in Gainesville, Florida to complete her clinical year of veterinary school at the University of Florida (UF).

After 4 years away from home, her friends and family, she was eager to come back to Puerto Rico and serve her community as a doctor in veterinary medicine. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in dermatology, dentistry, and integrative medicine. Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the ‘American Veterinary Medical Association” (AVMA) and “Colegio de Medicos Veterinarios de Puerto Rico”.

Dr. Gonzalez strives to help all animals in need and enjoy challenging cases on a daily basis. She also enjoys training before work, outdoor runs, competitive cycling and swimming, saltwater fishing, a good book, or just to relax by the beached soaking up some sun. When she is not at Centro Medico Veterinario you can find her spending time with her husband, family, and her 4-legged son Mr. Peto.

Ferdie Liard Ramírez, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Ferdie Liard Ramírez completed a bachelor’s degree in molecular cell biology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. He graduated from the University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2021 and immediately returned to Puerto Rico to practice as a veterinary doctor. Among his favorite specialties are the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine diseases, infectious diseases, and diagnostic imaging such as ultrasound and endoscopy. In his free time, Dr. Liard enjoys hiking in different parts of the island, doing functional strength training, or watching thriller and science fiction movies and series. Although his favorite animal is the giraffe, doctor Liard is happy to be at Centro Medico Veterinario de Guaynabo, in his homeland providing his services to our patients.

Camille Lloret Martínez

Hospital Administrator

Camille joined our team early in 2013. She quickly became a trusted team member for her “can-do” attitude, flexibility and high quality work. Camille is in charge of coordinating human resources, clinic events and activities, travel and event arrangements, office supplies, staff schedules, and inventory among other administrative things. Camille loves to bring her 10 year old dachshund, “Nena”, to work with her every time she can.
